On the 16th of November 2011, Mainport put pen to paper with the Piasau Shipyard in Miri Malaysia and approved their first every purpose built Seismic Support Vessel new build program.
These bespoke vessels were designed by Mainport in conjunction with an external ship design company. The Mainport Cedar’s keel way laid on the 20th of December 2011 and was delivery in August 2013, with the vessel going straight into a charter. The Mainport Pine’s keel was laid on the 21st of February 2012 and is due for delivery in January 2014, and, again will be going directly into charter.
Both vessels are Marshall Islands Flagged and are classed with Bureau Veritas. Both vessels have a National Document of Compliance (SPS50), from the Marshall Islands, to carry up to a maximum of 50 personnel at any one time.
