Seahorse Ltd. purchases 2000 ton barge "ATLAS"

Seahorse Ltd has just completed the purchase of the spud barge "ATLAS" from AMEC Construction in the UK.

The "ATLAS" is a 2000 ton displacement barge capable of operating in depths up to 14 metres with her spud legs. She has two triple drum winches, one of which controls the spud legs and the other is used for the control of mooring systems. She is 55 metres long by 21 metres wide and can carry a 400 ton crane.

She has 4 portacabins permanently installed on board giving office, messroom, storeroom and workshop facilities. She also has her own generator set to power these facilities.

"ATLAS" will start her first contract working on the Dublin Bay pipeline project in the last week of May 2002.
